Medical Expenses

You may be able to claim the total eligible medical expenses you or your spouse or common-law partner paid for:

yourself
your spouse or common-law partner
your or your spouse's or common-law partner's children born in 1996 or later

You may also be able to claim the total eligible medical expenses paid by you or your spouse or common-law partner’s parents and/or grandparents who are 65 years of age or over and/or dependants with a physical or mental impairment over 18 years of age.

The following is a list of some of the common medical expenses you can include.

Travel Medical Insurance
Private medical and dental insurance fees
Long term care fees
Portion of assisted living (some restrictions apply)
Difference between gluten and gluten free foods for celiacs
Eyewear
Dental
Service animals
Travel expenses for treatment not available in your area (must be over 80 km round trip
Prescriptions (Hint: You can obtain a yearly detailed printout of all prescriptions from your pharmacy)
